导演李秀镇在其上一部电影《韩公主》之前就已经开始编写《偶像》的剧本，只是当时写得不太顺利 。薛景求刚接到剧本时，因为难以理解剧中人物的选择而感到压抑，之后为消除这种纠结而决定出演 。

该片拍摄期间，薛景求因为角色需要，一直保持头发在脱色状态 。该片拍摄期间，千玗嬉根据角色要求剃光了眉毛，所以她即使在拍摄空闲时也只能一直呆在家里 。
